Larwood Bridge, from original pen & ink by Wayne Bricco, Acrewood Art

Larwood Bridge
Linn County, Oregon

O Lord, you alone are my hope. I've trusted you, O Lord, from childhood.
Psalm 71:5 NLT

I think of this as a picture of the last few days of summer before school starts. It was a fun drawing to work on. I drew most of it at the Oregon Covered Bridge Festival in Albany, Oregon, and at the Corvallis Fall Festival in Corvallis, Oregon - two great festivals in two weeks. It was fun to talk with people from the area who knew the bridge. I especially had fun talking with the kids. I hadn't decided what color to make the swim trunks of the boys in the picture, so I asked the first 3 boys who showed an interest in my drawing what color theirs were, thereby putting those guys into the picture.

I wanted to draw one of the bridges with open sides, so I chose to draw the Larwood Bridge. I liked the setting with the swimming hole for this late summer/early fall picture for the covered bridge calendar that seems to be forthcoming.
